We are the Shadburnes, and we're moving to Australia. Western Australia, to be exact. Fremantle, to be exact-er.
We are missionaries with Mission to the World, the mission agency of the Presbyterian Church in America. When we get to Fremantle, we will join an established church planting team to help them start their second congregation. Our work will include building relationships within the creative community, which is largely made up of college students, musicians, and artists. We will also support the church in the area of music and mercy ministry.
Both natives of Kentucky, we met through our campus ministry at Murray State University. In 2003 Andy earned his degree in organizational communication and non-profit leadership, while Missy received a degree in middle school education. We married in 2005 and moved to St. Louis, MO, to work with The Chapel, a music and arts venue operated by Memorial Presbyterian Church.

While working with The Chapel, Andy used his gifts as a musician to help support Memorial’s outreach to the creative classes in the city of St. Louis. He plans to use those same gifts to help support church planting in Fremantle. While in St. Louis, Missy has been salt and light in public schools. In Perth she hopes to use her diverse teaching and ministry experience to disciple college students and those young in the faith.
